Important information
Sorry most of
this is common sense
but because of
previous mishaps we have to spell it out!
Gates.
Please always keep the gates closed - danger for chickens etc
Toilets a sinks.
Tampons, nappies etc must not be put in the toilets, they
will block the system.
Please
use the toilet cleaners provided. Do not pour tea leaves or coffee
grouts down the sink.
Pool
security. The gates must be closed at all times and children always
supervised by an adult. See Pool information.
Pool.
Children must not take toys into the pool. Only pool inflatables are
permitted. A new pool liner will cost £1500.00 if damaged and the
following groups' holiday would be ruined.
Pool
cover. When the weather is cooler the pool cover should be replaced
during the day to keep the heat in. It can make a difference of 2°.
Do
not leave light things (sweet wrappers, bottle tops) around the pool
that can blow in as they could damage the filter & pump.
Changeover times : Arrivals from 4.00 pm. Departures up to 10.00 am. We need a
certain amount of time for thorough cleaning, changing beds and
maintenance work etc. However you are welcome to leave your luggage here
while you go shopping, please advise us if you are going to do this and
your ETA.
Bed linen.
Please leave the bed linen you
wish to be changed in the washing basket by 10.30 on Saturday in the
games room and replacements will be provided. You’re welcome to strip
the beds (used ones only) when you leave. Towels you wash
yourself as necessary and are for house use only. Please do not take pillows or duvets for use around the pool or in the garden.
If anything gets broken please replace it and inform us immediately
if anything needs repairing no matter how small as we don’t have time
on a changeover day.
Solar panels- children should not play near the solar
panels.
When you go out please close all windows on the ground floor and
shutters or windows upstairs as we can have sudden violent storms.
If you go out for the evening lock the
main door shutters.
Recycling
Gauriaguet
has a strict policy of recycling.

Glass
goes in the container in the shed & then you take them to the recycling
centre in the village

paper & cardboard
plastic & tins go in the yellow plastic bags,
but
not plastics like carrier bags, yogurt pots or cake containers.
If the dustmen notice bottles etc in the bin
they may refuse to empty it. The dustmen come early Thursday morning. We’ll put your rubbish out
·
organic matter. There is a container in the kitchen and a compost box in the
garden for: potato
peelings, egg shells, tissues, kitchen paper, tea leaves, shell
fish, coffee grouts etc.
The chickens, sheep & goats will be happy to receive any
bread, lettuce, croissants etc.
Do not give
anything to the donkeys.
When walking in the garden, watch out for rabbit holes!
Smoking
– The house is a non smoking zone but guests can smoke in the garden
room.
Smoke
alarm.
There is a smoke alarm downstairs.
Outbuildings.
Children shouldn’t go into any of the outbuildings.
Oven. To
operate the oven you must either set timer or turn it to Manual.
The timer can stick!
Saucepans – The
green saucepans which look like casseroles
can not be used in the oven. The handle and tops will melt.
Herbs.
There is a herb garden near the goats field.
Drawers.
There are drawers under the double bed in the smaller double room.
Garden umbrella –When not in use put down as it could be damaged if the wind
takes it.
The container may need topping up with water to keep it stable.
Showers.
If the water takes a long time to drain from the showers there could be
hair in the waste pipe. Just
lift the grill at bottom of shower to clear.
BBQ.
Do not use liquid firelighters.
You can put the used BBQ charcoal on the flower beds.
Security
– you are advised to take the same precautions as you would at home.
Shopping
-Peujard – 3 minutes by car. bakers, bar
/ restaurant.
There is a Geant hypermarket 5 minutes away. Take the RN10 in the
Bordeaux direction. Take the 2nd exit on the right (St
Antoine, la Garosse) at the roundabout take the 4th exit
which goes under the RN10, take the 1st exit at next
roundabout and it’s the first turning on the right. There is also a
service station there.
TV - We have BBC etc
put not the pay channels. If you want to watch French TV we will give
you an aerial.
Sunday shopping. On Sunday morning the Marché U supermarket in Cavignac and
the Champion supermarket in St André de Cubzac are open. There
are also a nice markets in Bourg and Libourne. Morning only.
Takeaways
The Soleil Levant pizza
restaurant. On the right as
you enter St André de Cubzac & another takeaway
in the second road on the left after the first pizza restaurant.
Vietnamese takeaway opposite Intermarché.
MacDonald’s
at St André Roundabout
Food remaining when you leave. You can leave any left over food for the following tenants They
may appreciate tea bags and the like when they arrive!
Heating.
In the winter by all means air the house but please do not leave the
windows or door open with the heating on. Do not open the remote control
as by changing settings the main unit could be damaged.
